Dear students,

There have been some changes to the Instructions for the EOY examinations - particularly what would be happening on 15 October. Attached is the revised instruction list so do give it a read.

In short :

1. Exams officially end on 14 Oct for most of you. On 15 Oct (Friday), only the Sec 3 HMT students will still have a paper.

2. Non-HMT Sec 3 students and all Sec 2 students DO NOT need to come to school on 15 Oct.

3. Sec 1 students are to still report to school on 15 Oct for post exam activities (CCM refresher course and learning journey). You are to report to school for flag-raising in the morning. All activities will end latest by 1.15pm.

Dear Students,
Mdm Mislia has been working in our school as a cleaner for many years. Last year her husband passed away. As a sole breadwinner, she has to support her elderly mother who is sick and her only teenage son who has a low IQ. She has been supporting both of them with her mere salary of $600. Early this year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was on medication and chermotherapy but unfortunately her condition deteriorated. The doctors have decided to operate and remove her breast. The operation will take place on the 26\08\2010. With her current medical condition, she is concerned she may lose her job and not able to support her family. Even with her poor medical condition not once has she taken MC. In this difficult period ,I encourage all of you to contribute where possible. A donation box will be placed at the General office for Mdm Mislia till 27\08\2010. Thank you.

2 things: XMOOGLE and PRESENTATIONS.

1) Xmoogle's EL Page has a forum called POETRY. Pls post all your questions or doubts on that forum, and feel free to comment on each other's posts or answer each other's questions. It'll help in your understanding of the poems.

2) Pls sign up (indiv/pair work) for any of the following if you've not done your presentation:

I stress that PICTURES are essential, and you should verbally tell everyone more about the story/fact behind the pics. Don't give me a huge chunk of text that you did not read, nor understand.

1) Singapore's past vs Singapore's present (Pictures of kampung community etc)

2) Singapore's union and subsequent separation from Malaysia (Year, reasons, pic of LKY crying at the announcement of their separation etc)

3) Singapore's colonial past (How did the British change SG? Include pictures of British influences in SG, etc)

Pls reply by submitting your name (and that of your partner, if any) in the response box below.

If none of these places are taken up, I'll select the presenters on Monday...which means you'll only have 1 day to prepare.

the 8th Student Leader Investiture will be held on this coming Thursday (22 July) in our school hall, from 3.30pm to 5.00pm. Together with CCA leaders and student leaders from other schools, you will be witnessing the Investiture!

Dear all

I hope that you are having a good rest. As I was not well last week, I believe some information on June Hols HW did not successfully reach you. Here is what you need to do this June:

1) Compile 8 complimentary and/ complaint letters from The Straits Times. If you can find them online, feel free to copy them on a Word Document. If not, do cut them out from the papers. Try to find letters that contain at least 120 words.

2)Underline/Highlight phrases that are unique to such letters. For example, you might find 'I was appalled at the service...' in a complaint letter, and 'It is with sincere gratitude that I...' in a complimentary letter.

3)Log on to Xmoogle and complete a writing task every week.

10:45am to 11:45am.14th may friday, lesson is part of post exam programme.From
next week onwards, CCM will revert back to normal timing, ie 2-3pm on both 19th

The format and topics for the 1E Lower Secondary Science Examination 2009 is attached.

Important Note: I made a mistake when I briefed about Paper 2 Section B. There will be no choice of questions for Paper 2 Section B (Free Response Questions). For Paper 2 Section B, one compulsory 10-mark question will be set for each of the three discipines - Biology (10 marks), Chemistry (10 marks) and Physics (10 marks). You are to answer all questions in Section B (Total: 30 marks).

This is reflected in the attached document for your reference. I will clarify any doubts you may have when I see you in class.
